What Makes Remote Workers Productive and Happy?

By now, we’ve all heard countless anecdotal tales of how being captive at home during the pandemic increased worker productivity.

In my current role as President of Abel Consulting & Executive Search, I hear my share.

A lot of companies have permanently shifted to a remote-work scenario — or at least a hybrid option — in the wake of the pandemic.

But what’s really interesting, when you dig into quantitative metrics around remote productivity, is that they’re so closely tied to other lifestyle factors. From a Boston Consulting Group survey of 12,000 workers recently:

️  Those who feel stronger social connectivity with co-workers, even in a remote scenario, are more productive

️  People who report stronger mental and physical health are more productive

️  And workers with access to user-friendly virtual tools also report higher degrees of productivity, particularly around collaborative tasks

As we move into a world where many people will stay remote or hybrid, finding ways to support these efforts will no doubt bolster productivity and employee happiness.

My clients are certainly aware of this and gone to great lengths to make sure that they truly model these behaviors.

How about you?
