HEALTHCARE – Workplace mental health: where do we go from here?

The need to look after workplace mental health has never been more apparent.

As reported cases of depression spike across the US, it is imperative that companies take the psychological wellbeing of their employees seriously.

A recent piece from Forbes underscores this point. The author emphasizes the need for organizations to actively listen to their people in order to understand what they’re going through.

Not only does this culture of openness reduce stigma around mental health issues, it also gives leaders an idea of the specific forms of support they may be able to provide.

I work alongside healthcare companies as part of my work at Abel Consulting and Executive Search, LLC, so I feel especially sensitive to issues of wellness and care.

Everyone deserves to work in an environment where they feel valued and supported. And believe me: an employee who feels valued is ten times more likely to show up to work energized and ready to innovate!

I’d be curious to hear from my network on this. Are any of your workplaces taking on mental health initiatives?
