This year is not going to look like a normal year
I know we’re all excited to get back to normal. But I have to say it: this is not going to be a normal year.
Not in terms of hiring, anyway.
Historically, hiring sees a surge at the beginning of the new year and again in the fall. The holidays and summer seasons tend to be a little slower.
But because so many industries have been hit hard by the pandemic—many had furloughs, layoffs, or even drastic restructuring initiatives—the normal pattern has been disrupted.
For certain industries and companies, hiring is slower than usual right now. Some analysts predict hiring will pick up later in the year.
For others, there’s an extra surge in hiring going on currently.
Of course, industry trends only matter so much if you’re actively looking to hire right now—or looking to find your next best role.
Regardless of the pundits and predictions, if you need help with a hiring matter, I’d love to hear from you.
