Why Doing Good is Good for You

Want to feel good? Do good.

You’ve probably heard this before: volunteering makes people happy. In fact, 94% of people who volunteer say it improves their mood, and 78% say it lowers their stress.

Yet, according to a poll by Happify, only about 22% of American men and 28% of women volunteer.

That’s because we’re all very busy!

But if volunteering is built into work, it gets a little bit easier. Which is why some organizations organize regular or periodic volunteer opportunities for their employees.

As Happify notes — and I’ve certainly noticed as in my role as an Executive Recruiter at Abel Consulting & Executive Search, working with all kinds of companies — teams that organize volunteer initiatives experience:

⭐️ Less stressed-out employees
⭐️ More teamwork and time-management skills
⭐️ A boost in productivity
⭐️ Stronger relationships between colleagues

If you work with a recruiter like myself, I’ll make a point of closing the loop with each candidate, so no one feels left behind. Rest assured, despite the volume of people looking now, I will eventually circle back. It may take a little longer, but you are not forgotten.

Hiring managers: even if you decide not to hire someone, letting them know why can be a valuable bit of information in their overall job search.
