You might want to rethink your benefits strategy
“The future of work” might sound like a meaningless buzzword, but I’d venture to say it’s become a very real concept this year.
And as HR leaders adjust to things like socially distanced office spaces, remote work paradigms and more repercussions of the pandemic, it’s worth rethinking benefits strategy as well.
Here are just a few areas to consider giving some attention:
✅ Your absence policies — in a new normal of remote work and the potential of quarantine mandates, your strict absence policies may be outdated
✅ Open enrollment for health insurance — You might not be able to change the dates, but if most or more of your workplace communication is happening digitally now, make sure you’re providing your staff with adequate information and resources to make their insurance choices wisely
✅ Disability insurance — Returning to work from illness or injury isn’t something most people think about until they have to; your disability insurance offering is something you might want to revisit and educate on going forward
These are just a few of the conversations I’ve had with stakeholders lately.
Any other areas of benefits policy you see in need of attention this year?
I’d love to hear your thoughts.
